1. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
A leader of India’s nationalist movement and the first prime minister of India after its independence. A he was the main person in bringing about modernization in India. He made a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic through his domestic and international policies. It was under his supervision the first five year plan was evolved. It mainly emphasized on the increase in the agricultural output. His love for children made him the Chacha and his birth date is celebrated as Children’s day
2. B R Ambedkar
Dr B R Ambedkar, Babasaheb Ambedkar who played a major part forming of the Indian Constitution. He was known as a great politician and a lawyer. Its why the biggest law college is named after him. He aimed at eradicating untouchability and caste differences. He always remained as a leader fighting for the class of people who were considered socially backward. The great person to be the first law minister. He won Bharat Ratna .A person impressed by Buddhism who later converted himself and worked toward converting lakhs of people too to Buddhism through his books and speeches
4. Atal Bihari Vajpayee
A great politician and a great patriot who served as the Prime Minister of India in three non-consecutive terms ,Member of parliament for nearly five decades. Had won elections in various states which were Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi. He excelled in writing poems too, in short he was multi facet personality amidst people who give importance to English he was very different who always gave priority to his language Hindi and was courage enough to deliver his speech in his language in the UN assembly. India under him got strengthened by means of his economic and infrastructural reforms, universalization of elementary education. It was during his period the foreign trade and economic relations improved.
5. Lal Bahadur Shastri
He was always identified as a soft spoken and mild mannered human. As a Prime Minister Shastri focused in removing acute problems in the society which were food shortage, unemployment and poverty. The Green revolution was started as a part of this. White Revolution also bloomed up under his supervision.
He followed certain principles which he did under any bad circumstances he underwent . The keep up pride and honor of the country was his only wish. He also served as Union minister in the Railway Sector. When he knew about a massive train tragedy he resigned immediately. The Prestigious Bharat Ratna award was given to him
7. Sardar Vallabhai Patel
Vallabhbhai Patel known for his excellence in law was always a person who was given highposts by the British government but he never ever accepted any due to his strongly opponent attitude towards the British. Being a great leader he played a crucial role during the freedom struggle of India .He was the main person behind the formation of the Indian union.
He never wanted big posts and amidst request from all he never participated in the election for selecting the prime minister of India immediately after its independence. It was purely due to his effort the states of India are formed today
8. Subash Chandra Bose
Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose as student was intelligent and sincere and had strong liking towards the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. He had patriotism within him and that later made him a great freedom fighter and it was he who was behind the formation of the Indian Army.
He started his act against the British during his college by thrashing one of his professors that made him been thrown out of college and was listed as a rebellion.He was in a good post in the Indian Civil Service but his strong attraction towards the participation in Freedom fight made him quit the post.He later became a great youth leader after joining the congress party
10. Indira Gandhi
Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru. The only women prime minister to be in this prestigious post for a long time. Indira Gandhi has been a role model to women who were always considered lower than men in the community. She has been an inspiration to Third World nations. Leadership was inborn in her. At a very young age she leaded the Monkey Brigade a brain child of the Congress Party to end British control in India.
She has been assisting her father during his tenure as prime minister between 1947 and 1964. She became a president of congress in 1959 .Then her journey went off from a cabinet minister to the Prime minister of India. In her period as a prime minister she was known for her high power political ruthlessness .The war of independence against Pakistan, creation of Bangladesh, raising the level of India to the regional hegemon of south Asia were all the feathers added to her crown as a PM.
11. Dr.Rajendra Prasad
Rajendra Prasad a gold medalist in his masters of law.A eminent personality as a lawyer and then later in the freedom movement and finally the first president of India. Though he succeeded in his profession his urge towards the movement of Indian freedom made him quit his job A great leader of the Indian Nationalist Movement a played a great role in the formation of Indian Constitution.He joined the Indian Congress Party.
A person who was initially not impressed with gandhiji but later was moved by his courage,conviction and dedication.He was against western education not mere words that he proved my making his son quit the university and join the Bihar Vidyapeeth.He volunteered in the rescue and fund collection operations after the earth quake in Bihar where he collected funds of nearly 38 lakhs for the welfare of the people.
13. Rajiv Gandhi
Being a Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was so popular through his developmental projects in the educational and telecom sector.a person who was initially having no interest towards politics but later forced by his mother Indira Gandhi he contested in the elections which was criticized by many as a hereditary participation purely under force and not of interest.
Elected as MP and serving as a political advisor to his mother he gained popularity and a place in the politics.He also served as the president of the president of the youth congress..He stood different in the policies he brought about in his tenure .The Bilateral relations with USA was improved hence paving way to economic and scientific cooperation from it.”Red Tapism” introduced by him to allow business house to set up their establishments was a remarkable one.
14. Dadabhai Narouji
He is known for his achievements as the first Indian to become a professor.He excelled in Mathematics and Philosophy.He has been the main instrumental person behind the formation of the Indian National Congress and had served as a president of it too.This Grand old man was one among those who laid the foundation for the freedom struggle. Gyan Prasarak Mandali (Society for Promotion of Knowledge) was his brain child.He tried to convey the problems faced by Indians through his petitions to Governors and Viceroys.His fightings were aginst the british rula and poverty in Inda
16. Jyoti Basu
Jyoti BasuThe great communist leader who served as the Chiefminister of West Bengal for longer term of nearly 23years.A powerful political leader with a great charisma. He established the Marxist wing of the communist party. He fought for bringing peace in west Bengal where violence was created by the Naxalites.
He was the reason behind secularism and developed a brotherhood relation between the Hindus and MuslimsHe is known for his elaboration in practice in many sides which was a combination of Communist parliamentary and extraparliamentary political tactics.He aimed at establishing a seemingly indestructible Communist control over the state-level political power in West Bengal (India).
17. Shashi Tharoor
He has a world of experience as a politician ,an author, an international civil servant and a compelling and effective speaker, fluent in English, French as well as in Malayalam and Hindi. He is the current lokshaba MP of Trivandrum constituency and a Chaitman of the standing committee of external affairs.He has also served the Humna Resource development as a minister.
He served as a peacekeeper, refugee worker, and administrator at the highest levels during Kofi Annan’s leadership of the organization He also excels in his writing in both fiction as well as nonfiction streams. He has won many awards too. His main tool was the social media for political interaction. Prior to Narendra Modi he was the most followed person in the social sites. Dr. Tharoor is a recognised authority on India, especially regarding its recent economic transformation and future prospects, human rights, literacy, culture ,globalisation, freedom of the press, foreign affairs and many more.
19. E M Sankaran Nambhoodripad
Elamkulam Manakkal Sankaran Namboodiripad was the first non Congress chief minister of independent India. An important leader of the Communist party of He loved socialism and Marxist theories. Apart from a successful career in politics, E M S Namboodiripad was also known for his contribution as a writer of non fiction work. His book on the history of Kerala stands special even today. he studied and wrote is writings mostly focused extensively about the economic and social problems like insufficient agricultural output, high unemployment, and overpopulation in kerala.His first masterpiece Keralam- Malayalikalude Mathrubhumi, was a cultural critique and paved the way for further investigations in Kerala culture and history. His works on Indian Freedom Struggle, literary criticism and many other important essays are worth studying. Actually he introduced a new experiment with Marxism by formulating the concept of coalition ministry. He was the protagonist behind the Peoples planning campaign (Janakeeya Asutranam) implemented by left democratic front in Kerala.
20. N T Rama Rao
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao(NTR) a nam which south Indian film industry can never forget mainly the Telgu industry. He also starred in Tamil and Kannada films.Playing lead and negative roles were his style and later part of his career he started producing and directing films N. T. Rama Rao had a very significant political career graph during which he tried his best to introduce policies for the well being of his state Andhra Pradesh.
Being popular in film Industry he always had a strive for politics. In 1982 he started his political career becoming a leader of the Telugu Dasam Legislature Party.He aimed at giving the basic necessities for the poor and in women rights. He always want the government to set up more theatres and regularization of production and distribution of movies was made in his time .
22. M G Ramachandran
Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran MGR who still remains as a great hero in the hearts of the people of TamilNadu A great actor, producer and politician.During his early ages as a Youth he took part and enacted many dramas and also on the other hand was actively involved in the Indian National Congress. He had a great respect for Gandhi and his principles.Being a popular actor who had an achievement of nearly 100 films in his 30years initially he joined DMK and later formed his own party ADMK and was the first person from film industry to be a chief minister. 23. Sonia Gandhi
Belonging to the highly rich and influential family in politics since Independence still she serves and leads the Indian National congress Party as the president and chair person of UPA.Born as an Italian and married to an Indian she has created histories in Indain Politics.Though she faced several hardships in her career she is so courageous and powerful women in India.Defeating the BJP oin elections Sonia was considered to be the Prime Minister but she was opposed by NDA due to her foreign origin and hence she made Mr.Manmohan Singh as the PM.She heads the youth congress and also the general secretary of the party.
25. Manmohan Singh
The 14th PM of India a great scholar and thinker.He showcased his talent as a economist.He was a public servant who worked in many prestigious government sectors and have recieved many honors.his transition from a bureaucrat to a politician was remarkable.Many changes in inflation happened during his tenure. He brought out economic reforms that aimed at enhancing the productivity and liberalization of the economy.
The National Rural Health Mission the National Ivestigation Agency to fight against terrorism all happened during his period. In 2009, Unique Identification Authority of India was established to provide a Multipurpose National Identity Card , to facilitate e-governance and increase national security .He was the main person who was behind the Indian Financial renewal.He is a man of great ethical values and a great humanitarian too.His great leadership skills made him been reelected as the PM for the second time.
26. Zakir Hussain
The third President of independent India .He is not only for his excellence as a president who was one of the main exponents of education in India.The National Muslim University was found under his leadership and it still is known under the name of Jamia Milia Islamia which is the central university in New Delhi and it continues to flourish producing many best students every academic year.
He also served as the vice chancellor of the university. He served as the Governor of Bihar and also as the Vice president of the country. For his services to the country he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest national honor.
28. P.V.Narashima Rao
P.V. Narasimha Rao, the first Prime Minister of India who doesn’t belong to Nehru-Gandhi family.He served as a PM for five years that’s the full term.His win in the elections were a record breaker and created a history with the maximum of 5 lakh votes.He aimed at the security and economic transformation of the country.
His contribution towards industrialization and economic and political legislations are note worthy.Unfortnately the Babri Masjid destruction in Ayodhya happened uring his tenure. Though having one success side he was also considered as a person who involved in many corruptions and scandals
29. Morarji Desai
Morarji was born and brought up in a highly Orthodox Brahmin Family.Nothing could stop his involvement in the freedom movement.He was one of the main leaders in the freedom movement and also the fourth PM of India. He was a great person that he was awarded by both India and Pakistan,the high ranking statesman award the Bharat Ratna and the Highest Civilian award Nishaan-e-Pakistan.A person who valued truth and faith the most. He followed Gandhi is principles and served as a true Gandhian throughout his life.It was during his period AMUL Cooperative Movement was established.
31. Sunil Dutt
Sunil Dutt (Balraj Dutt) known as a great Indian actor.He was also a producer, director, social activist, and politician .Though he acted in films throughout his life time he also involved in politics and with various social issues.He was
keenly interested in politics.He initially became the sheriff of Mumbai and then he joined the Congress (I) party and was elected a member of parliament from northwest Mumbai for five terms since 1984 till 2004. He worked actively for the cause of slum dwellers. In 2004 he was appointed India’s Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports.
32. Narendra Modi
Modi ji is being the most famous person followed in the social media.The Prime minister of India since 2014.He is a very humble person .Having grown up poor in northern India as a tea seller now being the role model of many youth in India. He entered politics as a youth in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a Hindu nationalist political party. Our Prime Minister as well as the Member of Parliament (MP) from Varanasiand the most prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He has been the Chief Minister of Gujarat for four consecutive terms.His administration mainly focuses on reforming and modernising India’s infrastructure and government and reducing bureaucracy.He also encourages increased foreign direct investment, improving national standards of health and sanitation .Improving Foreign relations are the key aspect.His initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Mission ,Make in India and Digital India are note worthy.
34. Jairam Ramesh
He is known as a great politician and a Economist.He belongs to the IndianNational Congress and is a MP of Rajya Sabha(Andra Pradesh).A great leader who has served in different portfolios in his career in various ministries such as Environment and Forest,Drinking Water and Sanitation and has also been as advisor to the financial minister.He sought to create a clear and transparent way of dealing and clearing the Forests Rights Act bill and controversial genetically modified food production in India was brought to a halt.
35. Jayaprakash Narayanan
He was a great freedom fighter and political leader of India who was known for his opposition to ‘Indira Gandhi’. He played a vital role in the Quit India movement which earned him fame and name. , Narayan was the first leader who commanded huge crowds for his political stands The total revolution during his period can never be forgotten.He has won the highest awards which include Bharat Ratna and Magasakey Award
37. Nitish Kumar
A great Politican and Socialist known for his honesty and one the best chief ministers in India. Through his successful governance he brought great changes in law and order and caste discriminations.The decided to resign from Railways as the Railway minister due to the train accident that occurred in Gaisal during his tenure.He was ready to take up the moral responsibility for the loss of lives of nearly 200 people.As a railway minister he brought out many ideas which has set milestones and brought great changes in the history of Indian Railways
38. Dr.A.P J Abdul Kalam
The role model of almost every youth in India now.Born and brought up in Tamilnadu.Though he was a mediocre student he was always interested. His contributions are immense. He was responsible for the development of India’s first satellite launch vehicle, the SLV- 3, development and operation of strategic missiles and building indigenous capability in critical technologies. He was appointed as the chairman of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment council.
Many Technology projects and missions to take India into the 21st century were taken up under his guidance.He served India as its 11th president in 2002. Widely referred to as the people’s President, he returned to his civilian life of education, writing and public service after a single term.
